The Hauraki Gulf is known as one of the finest cruising grounds
in the world - and here on Waiheke Island we're right in the middle
of it! Join the crew, relax and enjoy the good food and the pleasant
ambience of this unique ocean-going cruising yacht.
With a good breeze in our sails, it isn't far to a choice of un-spoilt
beaches, secluded bays or remote islets. And should the wind fail,
the engine will get us there, and back.
Among our favourite destinations for a day sail are:
Motuihe Island
With fabulous Ocean Beach, easy walking to a stunning view.
Rangitoto Island
The recently extinct volcano that is Auckland's landmark, rugged
black lava and unique vegetation.
Cactus Bay
A white sand beach inaccessible by land, where Waihekeans go to
get away from it all.
Tiri Tiri Matangi Island
(Tiri) an Open Wildlife Sanctuary, where many of New Zealand's rare
birds can be viewed in regenerating a native bush setting that has
been planted by volunteer labour. (This can be done in a long day,
or as part of an overnight cruise). A longer cruise, arranged to
suit your requirements, opens up many more possibilities.
Kawau Island
With its many anchorages, including the historic Mansion House and
gardens.
Great Barrier Island
Remote, wild, rugged and beautiful, excellent surfing, bush
tramping.
Coromandel Peninsula
Another great cruising ground, un-spoilt anchorages, beautiful scene.
After half a lifetime cruising the Gulf, I'm still discovering new
places!.
Join us and explore.
